Extension Term 2 DLO

For Extension we had to do our term reflection and make a DLO about it.If you can't hear the video here is the story.

This term was a lot of fun and I wanted to share it with you. So it all started with a survey that we did to show Mrs Tele’a what we usually eat.

After that we learnt about how Malawi people live, what they eat and where they sleep. I have done research about them and found the answer’s to my question’s. They usually eat a food called Maize, Maize is a type of corn that they grow, sometimes they eat mice I know you are thinking “ewwww why would they eat mice” well it’s a way of surviving.

We had to do our daily menu and compare it to Malawi’s menu. This was my menu it wasn’t my daily menu but I eat sometimes on the other hand Malawi’s menu is not always what they eat either they continuously eat Maize.

The famine came and this years saying was the power of 40 and most of the extension group came and spent the night in the school library. We played games and talked to the famine ambassadors we asked them questions to see what their answers were. Then we played some fun games with them. After that we went to sleep after watching the movie Frozen people kept singing and I could not get to sleep. You're probably wondering why did we do the famine well it was to raise money for the people in Malawi we did pretty good actually raising 1,700 dollars.

Conclusion:

I think that Malawians are pretty resourceful because they make use of the things around them. I know now that i’m very lucky to have things and lucky to be living most kids can die from starvation. This term was really fun and know i’ll have more fun trips like this in the future.

  1. Thanks for sharing your learning and creating Taimana. You make some valid statements about how fortunate we are in New Zealand in comparison to those in Malawi. Good on you for making a stand and fundraising for the needy children of Malawi. Look forward to seeing you in it again in the new year.
