Iluminate Writing

We walk into the hall not knowing what was going to happen, everyone sits down and waits quietly. I look at the back of the hall wondering why the windows were covered with black paper? Mr Burt talks a bit about what was going to happen and introduced a lady who had apparently came through our school and saw what we do with chromebooks and how it helps our education, but she brought her friends by the name of iluminate.

Iluminate are a group of dancers but not any ordinary dancer, they dance in the dark and also have light on them which are coded to change color and basically make the performance a lot cooler. There were 3 dancers 2 men and 1 girl. The lights switched off everyone says “OWHHHHH” cause we all know when the lights go off it's going to be a good performance. All of a sudden people were on stage with a costume of lights, They were so cool I couldn't take my eyes off them all the lights were flashing and they were moving around in different formations. From this experience I got to say that's one of the coolest things i've ever seen.

After the performance was finished my mind was blown, I was hoping there was more. After their performance they got changed and our Kapa Haka group done a dance for them to welcome them to New Zealand. The assembly had finished and all the little kids left but the year 7&8’s were lucky enough to stay behind and ask questions. My favourite question and answer was when we asked “how did you start dancing?” One of them said they started having like street battles and learning all the moves and stuff.

Creative Writing (Captivity)

CAPTIVITY

“I’ve escaped, I finally escaped” Sam is a 18 year old girl from Auckland, New Zealand. Sam has been in captivity for the last 8 years, she has recently escaped and is looking for help.  She ran and ran, looking and spinning around trying to work out where she was.

She saw a dairy and ran into it, breathing heavily.  She finally spat out her words, “My name is Sam Hutchinson, I have been missing for 8 years.  I have just escaped cause my kidnapper left the door open”.

The police arrived 15 minutes later.  They came into the dairy looking very carefully at Sam.  One policeman said to her, “Are you Sam Hutchinson”?  Sam stuttered, “Ye ye yes”.  “Please come with us to the police station and we will look after you”.

Sam sat there in a little room with a cup of tea.  She was trying to go through her mind what the hell has just happened.  What’s going to happen to me now.  Are my parents still alive or even here.  She starts to cry, she realises they may not even be around, they could be dead and she would have no one, no one again.  She begins to cry, what am I going to do.

The police are still struggling to get in contact with her parents, one of the office workers shouts “I’ve found something officer” the officer walked over to the desk. The parents of Sam have moved to Spain and have apparently been living there since they lost Sam. The officer’s reckon the only reason they moved is to start afresh and forget about the tragedy. Her parents are named Mike and Julia and she also has a little brother Joshua.

It takes the police agency 2 hours to get a hold of the family, the police told them about the missing child and they straight away went into tears. The family packed their bags, rushed straight to the airport and caught the first flight back to New Zealand. After long long trip, they finally arrived in Auckland.

The Police were at the airport waiting for them.  “Mr and Mrs Hutchinson”, the policeman said.  “Yes” Julia said.  “This way to the car, we will take to you to Samantha”.  MIke and Julia looked at each other, relief in their eyes.  They did as they were told and followed the Police Officer.

When they got to the Police Station, they could hardly wait to get in.  They were taken to the room Sam was in.  Sam was sitting at the table, she looked up.  There they were, her parents, and her little brother Josh. She stood up, her parents mouths were open with amazement, it was her, there little girl all grown up.  They ran to her, and hugged her with all their love.  Sam was so happy, here they are, I’m so happy.
